Strifto Saragli

METHOD OF PREPARATION

Ingredients

  • 1 package of filo pastry sheets
  • 1 cup corn oil
  • 2 cups sesame
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Syrup

  • 2 ½ cups honey
  • 2 cups water
Instructions

Roast the sesame by placing it in a pan over medium heat, stirring continuously until it takes on a light brown color and releases its aroma. Then, add the walnuts. Next, blend the sesame with the walnuts in a blender and mix them with the sugar and cinnamon.

Lay out a sheet of filo, drizzle it with 2 tablespoons of oil, and place 3 tablespoons of the filling. Roll it up and fold the sides in. Cut it diagonally into three pieces and place them starting from the center of a round baking pan. Repeat this with the remaining sheets, placing them around the first roll. Pour the remaining oil over the sheets and bake for 45 minutes at 180°C.

For the syrup, boil the honey with the water for 7 minutes until it begins to bubble. Then pour the hot syrup over the saragli.
