METHOD OF PREPARATION

Ingredients

 

Dough

  • 1 kg self-raising flour

  • 1 cup oil

  • 1 cup melted butter

  • ½ cup mineral water

  • 1/3 cup sugar

Filling

  • 300 g walnuts

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cloves

Syrup

  • 3 cups sugar

  • 2½ cups water

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Mix the dough ingredients and divide into eight portions, shaping each into a ball. Take one ball at a time, flatten it by hand into a small circle, and place the filling inside. Fold the dough to form a triangle. Repeat until all dough is used. Place pastries seam-side down on baking tray. Create decorative patterns using special tweezers or a fork.

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 45 minutes. For the syrup, boil all ingredients until thickened. Pour cold syrup over the hot pastries as soon as they come out of the oven.
